What is it about?

Performers: Alexander Wright, Phil Grainger, Megan Drury

Written by Wright&Grainger, Words by Alexander Wright

Language: English | Gig Theatre | Musical | Spoken Word

Age Group: 12+

The Gods, The Gods, The Gods brings to you 4 heart-warming stories together across 14 beautiful tracks with a powerful spoken word performance.

Two kids meet out dancing, they’re set to fall hard. A woman is on a beach, alone at night, looking at the stars. A bloke is on a bridge, thinking about jumping, just before dark. And the old Gods are gathering for a reckoning to start.

My Experience

Man! I am out of words. I have NEVER experienced anything like this ever in my life. Alexander Wright, Phil Grainger, Megan Drury – these three brilliant performers carried the crowd in the room with so much energy, love, tenderness and magic.

They legit controlled our mood for straight 70-80 minutes!

The seating arrangement was quite different for this one. Infact, there were no seats. The audience were supposed to stand in the middle of the room, whereas the three performers took the three corners of the room. I think this setting was what made this entire gig-theater experience even more unique.

The room’s attention swayed from one corner to another as one narrated the story as the beats dropped, spoken word narrations made way as one sang with the most angelic voice I’ve ever heard.

I closed my eyes and I let myself have the most amazing time of my life that hour.

In the end when the three performers united on one stage singing “this could be heaven now” multiple times and as the crowd sang along with them, I closed my eyes, singing along. For a second, it felt like an epiphany. This could be heaven now.

The Gods The Gods The Gods is not only a truly unique performance, but also a unique experience.

If I were to read the room, by the end of the performance, no one was ready to leave. It felt as if we belonged there in that room. The crowd broke into an unstoppable applause because this team won hearts that night.

Thoughts/questions I asked myself after the show

If only I could be as confident as Megan Drury was on stage! She was all in and enjoyed her own show. I am genuinely so impressed by the way she carried herself.

When I got a chance to say hello off-stage the next day at Lit LIVE! in Mumbai, I told her how amazing she was on stage and how I wish to be as confident as she was. She told me something which stays with me,  “there is a certain expectation that we must have confidence, or we must be a certain way to perform. But let me tell you, all you need to do is get up there and enjoy, be present in that moment.

There was a time when they sang “I am, I am I am. Or am I? Am I? Am I?” I couldn’t help but think about Sylvia Plath. She would have loved this performance. She would have felt her own words all over again – I am, I am, I am.

The Gods, The Gods, The Gods

Go for it or skip?

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is the immediate interactive theater experience you could ever have! The beats will make you want to dance, or sway around on your feet as the words make way to your heart. And at times, extremely moving.

Take your friends and families who say theater is boring. With The Gods, The Gods, The Gods, you are not a passive observer but active participants. Or maybe go alone, by yourself like I did. You will have the time of your life trust me.

“All hope is not lost, all hope is not gone. Have faith and carry on, wildchild! Carry on.”
